Ayahuasca Integration in Peru
There are two main parts to working with ayahuasca. There’s the work you do in ceremony with the medicine and then there’s the work you do after the ceremonies finish. We usually call the second part of the work integration.
Integration work is really important but sadly it is neglected by a lot of people. Over the years I’ve seen far too many people come to Peru to do a week-long ayahuasca retreat and then they fly straight home at the end and are back at work within days. This is probably the worst thing you can do!
Sometimes, when the medicine effects are really strong, ayahuasca can completely shatter all your paradigms as well as your concept of self and pretty much everything you thought you knew. And as I hope you can imagine – that can sometimes take awhile process!
Integration can be a long and slow process sometimes, but each person is different. Those who have already done a lot of sincere spiritual work on themselves before experiencing ayahuasca will probably find the integration process much easier and quicker. For others, the process could take many months or more.
However, regardless of how long it takes, the first week or two after your retreat is probably the most important. It is this period when you may be in your most confused state and going straight back to a job you hate will probably be the last thing you want to do. I would say that it’s very important that you give yourself at least a week to relax and process your experience without distractions.
Start your integration in the beautiful Sacred Valley of Peru
I would like to invite you to spend a week or more at Tolemac House in The Sacred Valley of Peru. We are a small guest house with 4 rooms to rent (minimum rental is 1 week).
It’s a wonderful place to relax and spend time by yourself to process and integrate your ayahuasca experience before you fly back home.
I have several years experience of working as a facilitator at a few different ayahuasca centers and I’m also co-owner of the Gaia Tree Healing Center in Iquitos. Since 2011 I’ve supported hundreds of people through their retreat experience so I do know quite a lot about ayahuasca.
Currently it is self-catering only so you will have to prepare your own meals; however, if there is enough demand then we plan to employ a cook to prepare healthy meals for guests. There is a great market in the center of Urubamba where you can buy a huge variety of fresh food at really low prices compared to what you pay back home.
We are located in the town of Urubamba in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It really is one of the most spectacular places in the world and you’ll be surrounded by the majestic Andes mountains while you stay here.
It takes just over an hour to get here from the city Cusco. If you are attending an ayahuasca retreat in the jungle then you will need to fly to Cusco via Lima, and we can arrange a taxi pick-up from the airport in Cusco.
